Nationally Appointed Missionaries and Co-Directors of Southeast Missouri State Chi Alpha

We’re James and Kim Boley – U.S. Missionaries with Chi Alpha Campus Ministries. We serve specifically to the college campus of Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, MO. Our goal is to reach and disciple students who reach and disciple students; to transform the university, the marketplace, and the world.

We do this by:

  • Community – we share life together (expand).
  • Teaching – setting aside specific time (worship service, small group Bible studies, 1-on-1 meetings, etc.) to teach the word of God and leadership and personal development.
  • Service – encouraging and providing opportunities to serve others either with setup, tear down, running slides, mission trips, etc. (clean up)

More About Us

Our Story

James accepted an art scholarship to Missouri State in Springfield, MO in fall of 2001. I (Kim) arrived in fall of 2002. Both of us leaving behind the small Missouri towns they grew up in. James graduating from Elsberry, MO and I graduated from Willow Springs, MO.

Through a series of God-moments, both of us found ourselves in Chi Alpha at Missouri State.

We were pulled in and stayed in because of the welcoming and inviting environment. We were noticed, loved on, and discipled like we had never known.

Things Got Wild.

With graduation arriving in May 2006, we were seeking God in what our next steps should be after college. We also weren’t dating (or even knew we liked each other) so that made it a bit easier!

James felt lead to give a year of his life to mission in Japan and I felt called to give a year in missions to Chi Alpha at the University of Missouri.

One year after graduation, James took on a teaching position in Dixon, MO teaching middle school art while I knew God was asking me to stay around Mizzou a bit longer.

Once James was settled in teaching, he then asked me out on a date.

James already knew his teaching career would be short lived as he knew God was asking him to come back into the mission field.

We were married on July 4th, 2009 and continued working with Chi Alpha at the University of Missouri. But now together!

From being reached to reaching.

After a few years (4 for James and 7 for me) under amazing leadership and training, we felt God pushing them outside their comfort zone. We knew God was asking us to pioneer a Chi Alpha where there wasn’t one.

After a series of fun God-moments, we knew God led us to pioneer Chi Alpha at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, MO and arrived there in June of 2013.

After a year of trainings, testings, and support raising, we officially launched Chi Alpha in October of 2014.

Beyond Ministry

We have two amazing daughters, Abbi and Lizzie. Their personalities grow more and more each day and it’s such a joy to get to know them more!

Abbi’s favorite subject is actually P.E. right now. But she’s also very creative and loves helping people. Lizzie is a fan of Disney princesses and playing dress up.

And we have two black lab fur babies, a sweet older dog named Natasha and a wilder younger Shuri. They are named after Marvel characters

When we’re not working on anything ministry related, we love playing with our girls (obviously) and drinking lots of coffee, being outside together, and reading. Might seem simple but we love it.

Am I Getting Too Full?

Have you ever eaten too much? Like, where you’re just miserable? It feels kinda gross, right?

What about when you enjoy a meal, you’re full, but you don’t feel miserable? You still feel normal and pleasant? It’s so nice! I love that feeling when I’ve enjoyed everything on my plate, but I don’t feel awful.

What Kind of Friend are You?

What Kind of Friend are You?

It was the start to a meme posted in a Facebook group I’m in. This began conversations among the women in the group about how they find it so difficult to find and keep friends these days. If I’m being honest, I’ve been there too. Some days I still feel that...
